An inspection of the VIN number will be required on all homemade trailers and all 1981 and newer model year manufactured trailers with a less-than 17 digit VIN, as a pre-requisite to registering the trailer. The Inspection of Vehicle Identification Number form (MVT-10) must be completed by a law enforcement officer.

For trailers that are already titled in your name but not registered:
Just send us a copy of the title (front page only) and a copy of the bill of sale or invoice along with a check for the desired registration term in years. See our Pricing page for amounts.
For trailers just purchased with a GVW (Empty Weight) of 3001 lbs. or more and newer than 1995:
These trailers must be titled in maine. Just send us the original title signed over to you, a copy of the bill of sale or invoice and a power of attorney (see Downloads page) along with a check for the desired registration term in years plus the title fee. See our Pricing page for amounts.
For trailers just purchased with a GVW (Empty Weight) of 3000 lbs. or less and newer than 1995:
Just send a copy of the bill of sale (also available in Downloads if need be) plus a copy of any other document stating the weight of the trailer (usually the title will have it) along with a check for the desired registration term in years. A Maine title is not required if under 3000 lbs. See our Pricing page for amounts.
For trailers just purchased that are 1994 or older:

We register all types of speacial equipment: We will need a copy of a title signed over to you, a bill of sale, a title in your name or a prior registration in your name. Send one of these along with a special equipment info sheet and payment.
No Sales or Excise Tax Required on Special Equipment
As of August 15 2014, Maine will no longer register homemade trailers for non residents that DO NOT have a VIN. You must law enforcement fill out a MVT-10 to register a homemade trailer. Please call for more information on registering Homemade Trailers
All registration expire on the last day of February of the expiration year.
